Introducing the Yellow Car vid-team, 'from left up': Henri, Freek, Vanessa, Mai, Mark, Roberto, Martin, Manuel, Nicoline & Denise
Over the last months I've been working together with Mai on 'Yellow Car', a song that has seen many faces during the process of writing. What started as a sort of Americana song finally evolved into a funky track tending to have a sort of 'disco' scratch. With Gio playing a heavy bass and funky drums by Manuel.

Just returned from Inge's funeral. The moment she was carried in by a.o. her sister Simone I realized: this is how we see eachother again. No more wild plans, new songs....diving into the ocean. A raw feeling, deep down inside. So many people, so much grief and so much support...

I just got a call from Inge's father with the devastating news. Inge died today in her sleep, three days after her arrival in Australia. Inge was wonderful to work with. Almost never on time. But when she made it, she gave her all and shined like a diamond. Both in the studio as a singer and before camera for the video we shot for her song 'You Got It'. A beautiful young lady full of dreams & talents. This summer we were going to finish our second together written song 'Such A Wonderful Feeling'.
Condoleances from me and all the people involved go out to your parents, family and friends.
Inge, it was a great pleasure to work with you. I also say this in behalf of Henri and Nicoline.
And where ever you are: Keep Shining & keep Singing!!!

Last two months Henri and I rebuild the whole site. Hope you like what you see & hear! And ofcourse we've been working on new songs .Mai released her debutsingle 'Dreaming Out Loud' and we just finished Jump! Call it a retro JackHouse track, for which we plan to shoot a vid soon. While in the process of writing songs together, one day Mai just jammed over that other song Pianorama: a sort of 'Cuba-House track'. Brian Hoo-Sam-Sooi playing a wild piano, Gio on supervision and ofcourse Tommy... taking care of business.... Just for fun I put a very old Tom & Jerry cartoon on the music track. It works out great; sound & video! Have a laugh and I hope a big smile listening & watching the video... :-)

Working with Inge Wezendonk on a great new song: 'You Got It'. This song has a big, fat groove about it and Inge's voice fits perfect in the melancholic atmosphere. With Gio Harthoorn on the bass and Manuel Roos on additional live drums & fills. Next week we'll be shooting the vid on a special location over here in The Hague with Henri Brekveld doing the photography and camera and Nicoline van Haastert doing the styling

Spring is here! Last week I took my first dive here in the sea.. Aiijjjjj..... 10 degrees Celcius... Too much. Anyway, I loved it!!!
Busy getting into mastering the songs for the coming album. That's a hell of a job with every track having about 10.000 parameters... Five songs are ready sofar: 'Let's Do It Again', 'Walk Out The Door', 'Pianorama', 'Make My Day' and 'Move Or Melt'. Have a listen on the Songs-page! E.g. 'Move Or Melt':... this is the final version: raw, fresh & funky: it will sparkle out of your speakers! With so many songs ready it's time to start thinking about the new album AND new vids: I just put an 'add' on MusicFrom.NL, looking for you to work with us on this!

We went to see Rupa & The April Fishes at the Melkweg, Amsterdam.
Wow... this was a heartwarming, sensual and exotic night (especially in 'thisforeverwintertinthenetherlands'..). What a voice.. and what enchanting musicians, all of them. Great band: I love them, check 'm out at Myspace! Meanwhile working on a new song: Kinda Kool: back to basics... a very nice, gently romantic ocean song, coming up soon!

We just joined Last.fm , the Internet Radiostation. It's a great way to build up your own radio and discover new music and artists over there: have a look & listen! One thing is... they ask to come up with a list of 'similar artists'... Ehh.... Anyone any suggestions.... what / who do we sound like?

I just finished 'Walk Out The Door'.
A track they should play volume up in a sweaty nightclub, somewhere far past midnight over in Detroit. My neighbours must have gotten crazy this weekend while I was mastering the track at maximum volume. I love the deep, gloomy, almost agressive sound and desolate atmosphere of this song. The sample is taken from 'Domage', a song by Tony Ynot. I really adore that song (which I think is one of the best songs she ever wrote), though it has never been published. At the end she joins in herself and Gio picks up his bass to join in at the song's finale. Some of the undifined sounds you hear in the song are singing Orca's.

Site under construction... I intend to have a 'Homepage / Jukebox section' with a jukebox playing all the songs. Along the way you can open up this jukebox and pick out any song you'd like to hear right away, scroll through all the songs, or just let it play. In the Songs section you can pick any track & listen to or download that specific song..... Hope it works out, right now not all links and navigation work fluently...

Wow.... just returned from a Madwoman concert/jam in Lokaal Vredebreuk, over here in The Hague: her name is Mem Nadahr and this beautiful lady has one of the most beautiful, intriging voices I've ever heard: she sounds like Nobody. If I had to describe her in my own words: something like in between 'Long Ago and Far Away', the intensity of Chi Coltrane, Macy Gray, 'Mists of Avalon', Carmel & the better of Amy Winehouse. A few minutes ago I received a mail from Hyves, a huge social network over here in the Netherlands, saying that we're 'Spotlight Artist' right now. Things are going well: the album is completely sold out. That's why you can download anything you want for free now on the download page and put it on your stereo, Mp3 player, i-Pod or whatever... And we have to move to another host shortly because of exceeding the data-limit with the site. That's the reason I had to withdraw the Ramonaaa-interview vid the other week...

Saw Kraak & Smaak performing live the other day: GREAT band with Ro & Rose: GREAT singers: check them out at Kraak & Smaak Or check Rose Spearman at Myspace. I love her voice & performance AND she lives right round the corner.. So one day we might be writing something together. I hope so! Last weekend we were over at Radio Ramonaaa to perform some songs live. Input & output of our soundsystems unfortunately didn't match... so we ended up doing a acapella version of Thinking 'Bout You, see the hilaric video. Meanwhile Make My Day (Wear It Like Brad Pitt) is almost ready... together with Tony I'm working on the loose ends now.

Meanwhile the vid is doing very well and we got linked in about 90 different countries already! The more I see it, the more I love it; it has a sort of 'raw feeling' about it.. And one of the first comments..'Sounds like Bowie in his Golden Years' made me smile from ear to ear (on my birthday that was). Shame the first 20 seconds are rampaged by Youtube convertion. Imagine a full videomaster of 2 Gb being converted to clip on Youtube of 4 Mb...

We've been working on the Slow Motion vid. In the middle of a fullmoon night we shot at Land's End. And this Saturday we did the shooting with Stephanie AKA S-Woman, near Southbeach, on the beaches of The Hague.
Thanks to Arjan Hebly the song will also sound brilliant: we remixed and he remastered the whole track at his TFP-studio.
Next thing will be the final shots with Sarah on violin and André doing his beautiful guitarsolo. Then Marian and Anita will start editing all the material into what I believe will be a beautiful second video for the album!
Meanwhile the P@s Moi Cherie clip is doing extremely well. From Japan to Brasil, from Spain to the USA: worlwide viewcounts are over 250.000 now!

Yesterday we did the shoot with Gabriëlle & René. Very good spirits & Great dancers. Together with Anita & Marian we captured the first material for the coming vid. Praise to the Regentes team for their technical support! Coming week the shootings at the beach with Stephanie. Then it will be full moon again for the final shots at Land's End.

At night I went to the 'Piratenbar' and finally met Stephanie: She's gonna join the vid crew for 'Slow Motion'! Next week I'll be meeting Birgit, who might become our drummer. Tracks from the album are regularly played on a big radiostation in Brasil: Metro! And the 'P@s Moi Cherie' video on Youtube is doing very well meantime... Yoppsszz!!!

It's a full moon out there tonight, the first of June. I'll go to Land's End in the middle of the night to find out: Catch the Stars & the Moon. Where & when exactly? We need this information for the vocal shoot which we are going to do next full moon, end of June. Me singing against the waves and the Killer Moon. A Man With a Mission, so to speak.

Together with Gio, Stef & Joumana we finished setting up things for the party until about half past eight... Stef might better have been born with dreads :-D Home for a very quick diner & shower and off to the 'Kill Your Darlings' release.. So many wonderful friends showed up! I played 'Where Did Love Go', acoustic and sang (for as far as my voice had not left me) 'Man With A Mission': These two songs belong together: one written júst after, the other lóng after the love has gone.. I ended up singing 'Slow Motion'. Tony did a 'acappella' version of 'Domage', the beautiful French song we will be working on soon. From now on you can order the CD! After this we presented the vid and danced the night away under supervision of our DJ's Gio and Daddy Cool.... Sarah will play the violin strings in the Slow Motion vid! We even think of going back into the studio to record her fabulous playing. André will be doing his own solo. We're scheduling the shooting dates with Theater-Zwembad de Regentes , Gabriëlle & René from TangoTalks Amsterdam are ready to go and we put an ad on Hyves.nl, looking for the mysterious, darkhaired lady... So far for the clip.
Astrid's Grandfather invited her for a holiday in Turkey... starting this weekend... (:(.. We were just planning to perform 'Let's Stick Together' live coming Saturday... I might be playing all back to basics now: One-Man-show.. Most of the songs on the album need too many musicians to perform live.. and Saturday's too short notice then.
Meanwhile I received more reactions on the LaserRadio broadcast this weekend.. Robb St. Johann played several tracks of which Slow Motion turns out to be favorite, some people even joined in on Youtube for that..Good thing!

The Release Party is finally set: Saturday, the 26th of May, starting 21.00. We also got hold on two great DJ's: Gio (he hits the bass...) and Daddy Cool: Both DJ's will show no mercy of any kind while you're on the dancefloor...
The clip is doing very well, especially in Spain and France (I get mails like: "Parfait", "Genial",'Cool', "Excelent titre bon je t'avoue je ne comprend pas l'anglais a bientôt..": Some of them haven't the faintest idea what the song and the English lyrics are about. Anyway: ;-D
And ofcourse on Youtube. I hope once we get our pressmailing out they'll like it over here in The Netherlands as well!
Meanwhile preparations for the Slow Motion video have began. Most important thing is: We'll be working with the same team: Anita and Marian just joined! We're gonna shoot in the Harbour, Land's End with a full moon at midnight here. And we've got permission to use the beautiful "Theater-Zwembad de Regentes". A great place, nice atmosphere, great stage & just around the corner. Gabriëlle & René from TangoTalks Amsterdam will catch the Stars & the Moon! Just last Saturday they were performing with the band Narcotango in a fullhouse Paradiso (Amsterdam).

I'm very happy with the loads of views & your comments on the video... in Dutch I would say I am very "in mijn nopjes"! The two Schwarzeneggers, both claiming to be the "real" Arnold made me laugh out loud! We love the man!
Today I changed the structure of this site, so that even someone from Mongolia can navigate.. :-D Tomorrow the preparations for the cd & video-release circus start. Phase II! Probably in two weeks we'll throw a big party in the center of The Hague (in the theatre where we shot most of the vid). Everyone involved in the clip & the whole project is invited. P@s moi cherie is doing very well on Youtube... First day we ended up 8 on the most viewed & most discussed list.. That's Multipas, a BigBagaBoom, so to speak in Milla Jovovich's Fifth Element language. I love that movie anyway!!! And I am writing a song with Milla in it! Let's see what happens next today :-P

Today we did a shoot with Arnold Schwarzenegger, for the PMC clip we invited him to sing along with his famous "Hasta La Vista Baby!" .. Think Arnold, Anita & Moi did a splendid job! Gregor edited some of the pictures.
Meanwhile the ladies are walking around with square eyes... 24 hours of editing have been done...

We did the final shoots for the P@s Moi Cherie clip yesterday... Wonderful team, great atmosphere and perfect location!!! I just put an impression, some photo's we took, of the coming clip.. Gregor was there almost all day and is working on the real (photo-) stuff.. Coming up next!
Now it's up to Anita & Marian to compress the 4 hours of vulcano video we have into the three and a half minutes of the song... Tough job... tough women. :-D

It's a hit... it's a knock on your knuckles... (Brood). A lot of hits on the site since a put out a little mailing to my friends three days ago ... first sign of life / coming out for The Man And His Music and my songs!
We're currently working on the video for P@s Moi Cherie with Anita and Marian. Anita's doing camera & scenario, Marian will do the final editing.
André is working out a sort of flamenco solo for Slow Motion. Hope we'll put it on tape next week! Then I'll do the singing again and start working on the final version..... can't wait.. I love this song. In a way it's so romantic... desperate.... exciting
And meantime offcourse busy with the site... to give it more flavor, smell & colour. I just edited a few new pages and the slide show, where you can see all the faces of the people who are involved. It's a handsome, GREAT team! NOT my face...for a change
Together with thanks page I put a remix of Stronger Than Me... it all together gives the atmosphere of a Catwalk.. Under the info-page I put an instrumental of Man With A Mission.
